I’m back after a brief, unexpected hiatus (check out the Blog the ‘Bus Instagram to see why… it’s good news!) to continue blogging about all things Columbus, and occasionally, some things that aren’t directly Columbus-related but are worth talking about. This is one of those times!
I was recently sent several products from Giuliana Rancic’s new beauty line, Fountain of Truth, to test out and review for free from Influenster. If you’re not familiar with Influenster, it’s a great network of influencers and reviewers who provide honest opinions about a myriad of products. Anyone can join, so if you’re interested, sign up here!
My package arrived just over a week ago with three full-sized products to try. According to the Fountain of Truth website:
“After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Giuliana Rancic was unable to find a clean skincare line that treated the appearance of fine lines, discoloration, and other skin issues. As a result, Giuliana committed to creating her own clean products and sharing them with everyone.”
The fact that these products are clean and all-natural is a huge positive. I love knowing exactly what’s going on my skin, where it comes from, and why it’s beneficial! I also love the fact that the line is cruelty-free, meaning no animal testing. As an animal lover, that’s hugely important to me.
The products I received are the Dream Cream Overnight Repair Mask, the Honey Glow Mask, and The Truth Insta-Facelift Elixir. The line does include several additional products, like a cleansing balm and a moisturizer with SPF 15.
As you would expect from a luxury beauty brand, the packaging of these products is gorgeous. They all come with a highly-polished rose gold lid that makes you feel like you’re holding something fancy.
The first product of the bunch that I tried was the Honey Glow Mask. I don’t know what I was expecting it to look like, but it really does look and smell just like a jar of honey. It apparently contains “Certified Organic Honey, restorative Propolis Extract, and amino acid-rich Royal Jelly Extract.” I don’t know what two of those things are, but I trust that they’re somehow beneficial!
It feels a little bizarre to slather what is essentially honey all over your face. It’s sticky and goopy and feels like you’re a kid playing with something you shouldn’t. All that faded away, though, as I started to massage the product onto my skin. There’s a very subtly warming sensation that occurs, and it’s nice and calming. When your skin is warm and smells like honey, it’s pretty difficult to be anything but pleased.
Here’s what I look like after rubbing honey all over my face. Beauty queen status: achieved.
I left the mask on for about 20 minutes (recommended time is 15 – 30 minutes), then rinsed it off with warm water. My skin did feel significantly softer and looked quite a bit brighter after using the mask.
The Dream Cream Overnight Repair mask is the next product I tried. It’s like an ultra-thick lotion, and a little bit goes a long way. One of my favorite things about this product is the scent; it’s reminiscent of Aveda products, which makes sense as both companies use all-natural, clean ingredients. The scent is also very calming, which adds a really nice aromatherapy aspect to a product intended for use during sleep.
I put this on right before bed, went to sleep, and woke up with very soft skin that felt refreshed. I haven’t been using it very long, but apparently after several weeks of use, you’re supposed to see some pretty amazing benefits. The Fountain of Truth website says:
94% of participants showed improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles after 4 weeks.
87% of participants agreed their skin looked glowing after 6 weeks of use
87% of participants agreed the appearance of their skin texture improved after 6 weeks of use
I haven’t been using it long enough to see marked improvement, but I can definitely tell that these results could be possible. I plan to use this nightly until I run out of it!
The final product I tested, which is probably my favorite, is The Truth Insta-Facelift Elixir. First of all, I love the packaging. It has a very neat top, which you turn to cause the pump to pop out.
After a few minutes of just playing with the packaging, I used two pumps (they say to just use one, but that didn’t seem like enough for me) to cover my face and neck.
Like the Dream Cream, this product smells AMAZING. It’s fresh, botanical and super soothing.
My skin immediately felt more radiant and “bouncy” after using The Truth elixir. There’s a very subtle firming sensation too, which is a good sign for those fine lines I’m starting to develop along with my gray hairs (seriously, I’m 26, isn’t that a little too early for all of this?!).
This is another product that claims best results after several weeks of continued use. I’ll be using it daily anyway, just because I love how it makes my skin feel. This is going to be a great pre-wedding skin prep regimen!
Overall, this whole product line gets a big thumbs up from me. It’s on the pricey side, but for the product quality, clean ingredients and ethical practices, I’d say it’s worth it.
